Their approach to living better inspired our founder Alain and our chefs to experiment with new ingredient combinations and create delicious, nutritious dishes – to share the taste of living better with you and those you care for.

To celebrate our new menu, we are giving away a trip to one of the inspiring countries, Greece.

Le Pain Quotidien – Terms and Conditions of the “Taste of Living Better” Contest.

1. General Provisions1.1 These General Terms and Conditions apply to the “Taste of Living Better” Contest (hereinafter the “Contest”), organized by LPQ Belgium S.A., with registered office at 1000 Brussels (Belgium), Havenlaan 86/C, and registered in the Crossroads Bank of Enterprises under number 0810.307.316 (hereinafter “LPQ”).1.2 Participation in the Contest implies the participant’s full acceptance, without reservation, of these general terms and conditions, as well as of all contest decisions taken by LPQ.

   2. Participation in the Contest

   2.1 This Contest is open to all natural persons 18 years of age or older at the time of participation, residing in Belgium.

   2.2 Contest participation is not open to any person employed directly or indirectly by LPQ (employees, freelancers, etc).

   2.3 In case of abuse, fraud or deception, LPQ reserves the right to exclude the participant and/or winner from the Contest, and they will no longer be eligible to receive any prize, subject to all other rights.

   3. Conduct of the Contest.

   3.1 This Contest has no purchase obligation and is only valid from October 21, 2024 to November 3, 2024, 9:00 p.m. CET in Belgium.

   3.2 To enter the Contest and be eligible for the Local Prize as described in Section 4.1 and the Global Prize as described in Section 4.2, an entrant must cumulatively complete the following steps:

   (a) The entrant “likes” the October 21, 2024 Instagram® post by @lepainquotidienbe (hereinafter the “LPQ Instagram® post”).

   (b) The entrant posts a comment (“comment”) under the LPQ Instagram® post in which (i) the entrant describes what the “taste of living better” means to him/her; and (ii) three (3) friends are tagged with whom the entrant would like to share the “taste of living better” .

(c) share the LPQ Instagram® post on the story (“story”) of his/her/their own Instagram® account. Only if the participant has a public Instagram® account, this participation may be charged.

3.3 The purpose of this Contest is thus that the participant describes and fills in “the taste of living better” in the most original way possible. Participants are explicitly prohibited from using (generative) artificial intelligence tools in the context of the Contest.

3.4 Each participant can only take part in the Contest once. If a participant does take part more than once, only the first participation shall be valid.

3.5 Although the Contest takes place on the Instagram® platform, the Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, managed by, or related to Instagram®.

4. Prizes4.1 Local Prize: cooking gl at an LPQ restaurant.There are a total of 12 Local Prizes to be distributed in Belgium.

The Local Prize consists of a cooking workshop with Alain Coumont, founder of Le Pain Quotidien, where the twelve Local Prize winners will cook dishes together as part of the Taste of Living Better campaign. The cooking workshop will take place at an LPQ restaurant in Antwerp, Belgium the week of Nov. 25, 2024. Winners of the Local Prize will be contacted via their Instagram® Chat Messages (“Instagram® Direct Messages”), with each winner being sent a personal invitation allowing them to attend the cooking workshop.

LPQ does not guarantee any other costs associated with this prize. The winner thus bears the costs of, among other things, transportation to and from the LPQ restaurant where the cooking workshop will take place and any incidental consumption. This listing is not exhaustive.

4.2 Global Prize: Culinary Experience.

There are a total of four (4) Global Prizes to be awarded:

– One (1) Global Prize will be distributed to participants in a “Taste of Living Better” contest organized by the local LPQ entity in Argentina;

– One (1) Global Prize will be distributed among participants in a “Taste of Living Better” contest organized by the local LPQ entity in Mexico;

– Two (2) Worldwide Prizes will be distributed to participants in a “Taste of Living Better” contest organized by the local LPQ entities in Belgium, the Netherlands, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and France.

The Worldwide Prize consists of a culinary experience in Greece from June 3, 2025 to June 6, 2025, organized by LPQ, for the winners of the Worldwide Prize, who may each bring one person of their choice, provided such person is 18 years of age or older (“co-traveler”), on the culinary experience.

Specifically, the following is included in the Global Prize (always for 4 x 2 people):

– 3 nights’ accommodation (from June 3, 2025 to June 6, 2025) in Greece at the Patric & Joan Leigh Fermor House in Mani, in a private room with ensuite bathroom with shared living and dining room (or in similar accommodation, should this resort not be available);
– 3x breakfast;
– Daily room cleaning service at the Patric & Joan Leigh Fermor House in Mani;
– Flight in economy class to Athens, Greece, departing from the country where the LPQ entity that posted the Instagram® Post to which the winner responded is based (“Country of Origin”). For Belgium, this refers to Brussels Airport Zaventem;
– Flight in economy class from Athens, Greece to the Country of Origin;
– Transfer from Athens Airport to the Patric & Joan Leigh Fermor House in Mani on June 3, 2025;
– Transfer from the Patric & Joan Leigh Fermor House in Mani to the Athens Airport on June 6, 2025;
– Tourist tax for the stay at Patric & Joan Leigh Fermor House from June 3, 2024 to June 6, 2025;

– 1 dinner on June 4, 2025, together with all winners and their fellow travelers of the Global Prize at the Patric & Joan Leigh Fermor House in Mani, hosted by Alain Coumont, founder of Le Pain Quotidien. Any specific dietary requirements (allergies, vegetarian, vegan,…) of the winner and/or co-traveler must be communicated to LPQ prior to arrival so that they can be taken into account.

Subject to availability at the time of booking, LPQ reserves the right to change flight dates, flights, airline, departure or arrival airport and accommodation.

LPQ does not guarantee any other costs associated with this Global Prize. The winner and his/her co-traveler will thus bear the costs of, among other things, travel insurance, all meals except breakfast and dinner on June 4, 2025 with Alain Coumont as host (cf. above), transportation between his/her residence and the airport of the Country of Origin or any other transportation (except transfer between airport and hotel), rental car, on-site excursions and/or activities, and other on-site purchases. In addition, the winners and their fellow traveler shall jointly and severally bear all costs for any damage they may cause to the Patric & Joan Leigh Fermor House, as well as any other damage they may cause to persons for the entire duration of the Global Prize (June 3, 2025 to June 6, 2025). If one wishes to consume their own alcohol at the Patric & Joan Leigh Fermor House, a corkage fee of 15 euros per bottle will be charged upon check-out. This listing is not exhaustive.

If winners and/or their fellow travelers wish to extend their stay in Greece, this is possible at the winners and/or their fellow travelers’ own expense. A travel guide will be provided prior to departure listing rental cars, activities and excursions. These may be booked prior to arrival at the winners’ own expense through the Destination © travel agency with which LPQ cooperates.

Winners are responsible for their personal legal documents, as well as the legal documents of his/her co-traveler, which are necessary to enjoy the Global Prize. Specifically, winners of the Global Prize and their co-traveler must:

– Must possess a valid travel document (ID card, international passport, travel visa, etc.) in order to receive the Global Prize. The travel document must be valid both at the time the Global Prize is awarded and at the time the Global Prize is executed (from departure date to end date of the culinary experience);

– comply with any health or safety regulations imposed by the airline or destination country;

If winners of the Global Prize do not comply with the above conditions, they may no longer claim the Global Prize, will be excluded from the competition by LPQ, and may in no way claim compensation and/or claim other services, a voucher or money in lieu of the Global Prize.

4.3 Provisions common to all prizes

4.3.1 Each entrant may win only one prize, be it a Local Prize or a Global Prize. For the avoidance of doubt, an entrant cannot accumulate the Local Prize and the Global Prize.

4.3.2 Prizes won are strictly personal and may not be transferred, sold or exchanged with third parties in any way.

4.3.3 Winners cannot exchange their prize for other services, a voucher or money. In case of refusal of the prize by the original winner, LPQ will select a new winner for the prize.

5. Selection of winners.

5.1 At the end of the Contest, on 05/11/24, a jury consisting of 3 members of LPQ Belgium (“Local Jury”), will review all comments posted under the LPQ Instagram® Post in accordance with Art. 3.2 of these General Terms and Conditions and will give all such comments a score out of 20 based on their creativity and originality.

The Local Jury will communicate, no later than 06/11/2024, the list of the eleven (13) comments with the highest score to the LPQ Headquarters, located at 1000 Brussels, Havenlaan 86/C, Belgium.

5.2 LPQ Headquarters will establish four groups with the lists of comments received from local LPQ entities that organized “The Taste of Living Better” contest:

– The ten (10) comments with the highest scores from Argentina;

– The ten (10) comments with the highest scores from Mexico

– The ten (13) comments with the highest scores from Belgium, the Netherlands, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and France (“EMEA List”)

5.3 On November 7, 2024, a jury consisting of 3 employees of LPQ HQ (specifically, the Brand Coordinator, the Chief growth and the Global Operations Director, subject to change should one of these persons be unable to attend) (“Jury LPQ HQ”) will give a score out of 20 to all the comments of the lists from Argentina, Mexico and the EMEA List, based on their creativity and originality.

The comment with the highest score in each of the lists will win a Global Prize: thus, a total of 4 winners will be designated, one for each of the aforementioned lists from Argentina, Mexico, and the EMEA List, respectively.

The selection of the winners of the Global Prize is supervised by Mr. Ben Van Schel, bailiff with his office at Hendrik Placestraat 43b 1702 Dilbeek, Belgium.

5.4 After the Global Prizes have been awarded, on November 7, 2024, the LPQ HQ Jury will award the Local Prizes to each person who posted one of the ten (13) comments with the highest scores in the Contest, provided that no Global Prize was awarded to that comment(s). In case a Global Prize was awarded to the comment with the highest score, the first Local Prize will go to the comment with the second highest score.

5.5 In case two or more comments have the same score, the comment posted first (earlier date and time) will be considered the comment with the highest score.

5.6 No later than 12/11/2024, Winners will be contacted by the @lepainquotidienbe via their Instagram® profile. Winners will be asked to provide their contact information (first name, last name, address, email address and phone number). If the winner does not respond to @lepainquotidienbe’s message requesting additional information within eight (8) days of being sent, their prize will be considered forfeited and the prize will be re-entered into the Contest.

6. Data Protection

6.1 By participating in the Contest, participants are informed that LPQ collects and processes the personal data they provide to LPQ in the context of the Contest for the purpose of administering the Contest and identifying the winner(s). LPQ will share participants’ personal data only to the extent necessary for the management of the Contest. In accordance with the Data Protection Regulation, namely Regulation 2016/679, and other applicable regulations on privacy protection, each participant has the right to access, modify and delete their data, as well as the right to restrict the processing of their data, the right to object to the processing of their data, the right to portability of their data and the right to establish guidelines regarding the fate of their personal data after their death. These rights can be exercised by contacting LPQ at feedback@lepainquotidien.be. The participant also has the right to file a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Belgium, the Data Protection Authority. If a participant requests the deletion of his/her data, objects to the processing of his/her data or requests the restriction of the processing of his/her data, before the winner has been selected, such participant understands and accepts that it withdraws his/her participation in the Contest, knowing that without such data, the participant cannot be included in the list of participants in the Contest.

6.2 Promotional and advertising offers may be sent to the entrant, but only if the entrant specifically indicates that they wish to receive these offers. Any publications about the winners will be disclosed only with the express consent of the winner himself.

7. Warranties and Liability

7.1 To the extent permitted under applicable law, LPQ is not liable for any damages (including damages to third parties) or costs of any kind or cause whatsoever arising from participation in the Contest, the awarding of the prizes, receipt and/or use of the prizes.

7.2 LPQ makes no warranty whatsoever regarding the use, availability and functionalities of the Instagram® platform. LPQ further disclaims any express or implied warranty that (i) Instagram® will be available uninterrupted; (ii) errors or defects on Instagram® will be corrected; or (iii) Instagram® will be free of viruses or other malicious code; (iv) that Instagram® in conjunction with Participant’s Internet connection will operate uninterrupted or error-free.

7.3 Entrant warrants that he/she/it will comply with Instagram®’s Terms of Use (“Terms of Use”) and applicable guidelines (“Community Guidelines”) in connection with the Contest. In no event shall LPQ be responsible if any contribution, post or comment made by an entrant is removed or blocked by Instagram® due to an alleged violation of Instagram®’s Terms of Use or Guidelines. In particular, entrant warrants that any content provided by entrant in the context of the Contest will not infringe the intellectual property rights and/or privacy rights of any third party. To the extent that any content provided by entrant under the Contest would be protected by intellectual property rights, entrant hereby grants LPQ, for the duration of the protection of the intellectual property right, a non-exclusive, transferable, royalty-free and worldwide license to use such content (including the right of reproduction, right of translation and right of communication to the public).

7.4 LPQ reserves the right, for reasons of force majeure or in its sole discretion, including but not limited to strikes, flight cancellation, unavailability of accommodation in Greece, epidemics, pandemics or any other travel restrictions, to postpone or withdraw the Contest. In any event, LPQ shall not be held liable for any decision made by LPQ regarding the conduct, postponement, or withdrawal of the Contest, except in cases of fraud.

7.5 LPQ is in no way responsible or liable for any defect in a prize or if a prize does not meet the winner’s expectations.

7.6 Contest winners agree to participate in the promotion -and announcement activities- surrounding the awarding and exercise of the prizes.

Winners agree that their Instagram® profiles may be publicly announced by the @ lepainquotidienbe profile in a separate Instagram® post or story, as part of this Contest.

Winners of the Global Prize are hereby informed that they will be photographed and/or filmed by LPQ during the culinary experience as described in Art. 4.2 of these Terms and Conditions. It is reminded that participation in the culinary experience is subject to the winners’ consent to grant LPQ the free, exclusive and unrestricted right, for the duration of 50 years, to record their name, voice and/or image (collectively “Right to Image”) in photographs, films, video and/or sound recordings as taken and/or filmed by LPQ during the culinary experience as described in Art. 4.2 of these Terms and Conditions and for promotional or announcement purposes, on any tangible and intangible media, including on the website(s), social networks or other media, or for any other similar legal purpose, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

8. Other Provisions

8.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by Belgian law.

8.2 The courts of Brussels shall have jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or in connection with the Contest and/or these Terms and Conditions.

8.4 The provisions of these General Terms and Conditions are severable. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is or becomes invalid or unenforceable, such invalid or unenforceable provision shall be replaced by another provision which is as similar in substance as possible to the invalid or unenforceable provision but which is valid and enforceable. The invalidity or unenforceability of any such provision shall not affect the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions, and these Terms and Conditions shall in all cases be construed as if the invalid or unenforceable provision had been substituted as described above.
