Le Pain Quotidien Issues Statement Regarding the European Chicken Commitment
February 11th 2020
Le Pain Quotidien is a plant-inspired bakery and restaurant brand that believes very strongly in making ethical choices on sourcing from field to fork for the good of our guests’ healthier lifestyle choices and the sustainability of our planet. These convictions are also applied to the animal welfare choices that we make.
We are constantly looking for opportunities to ensure that we are holding ourselves and our suppliers to the very highest standards. Accordingly, we are, therefore, very happy to confirm today that we will be joining with a growing number of voices in making the European Chicken Commitment. The criteria laid out in the commitment are designed to provide better welfare for chickens, with the goal of being achieved by 2026 throughout Le Pain Quotidien’s entire supply chain in Europe.
In addition, in our 13 company owned restaurants in France, we source chicken from organic farming. We are going further and ensure that at all of our chicken meat volume come from farms that meet these criteria and guarantee that the animals have access to free-range.
